The Parity EVE is purple.

eveparityWEBSITE

From 2022*:  This EVE recognises an equal balance of either genders (two or more) or of L1/L2 speakers in the plenary or featured speaker line-up, where ‘featured speaker’ refers to speakers used in promotional materials.

Balance means parity ie the same number of eg L1 speakers as L2 speakers. Bilingual speakers are counted in both categories. Where the same number is impossible, there can only be a difference of one eg 3:2, 7:6 etc.

The organisers of an ELT conference or event with a finalised line-up which meets the criteria described above should contact the EVE Calendar for inclusion on the calendar. We will check the line-up, add the event, and hyperlink it to the organisation’s conference web page.

The organisers will then be invited to display a bespoke purple EVE, which will be sent to them.

If you have organised an event and you believe it meets the criteria, do contact us via our Contact form and send us your finalised, published line-up.

As we are a voluntary initiative, there is no cost.

Note: Gender and L1/L2-speaker/bilingual are taken to refer to the gender or language group by which a speaker identifies.

Disclaimer: an event displaying our purple EVE is being recognised for parity across the plenary or featured line-up. Should any last-minute changes be made to the line-up owing to unforeseen circumstances and affecting the balance, the EVE should be removed. However, this may not always be possible. In this case, EVE: Equal Voices in ELT will be not responsible.

*Prior to 2022, the purple EVE was awarded in recognition of gender parity only.
