The Voices EVE is platinum-grey on red.

From 2022*:  This EVE incorporates the ‘old’ Platinum EVE and extends its reach. It has two main functions:

a) to recognise balance of both gender and L1/L2 speakers across an ELT event’s plenary or featured line-up. Where an event has no plenaries or featured speakers, as may be the case, feg with a web event, balance across all sessions will be recognised. See our Parity EVE page for the criteria.

b) to recognise events where the featured line-up represents the audience and/or theme of the event. For example, an event showcasing neurodiversity would have a clear majority of (self-identifying) neurodiverse speakers. An event held in India would feature a clear majority of local speakers. An event in a country or region where 80% of teachers are female would have a clear majority of female speakers. The event organiser will be deemed to know their audience and have assessed the line-up as being representative. (See Important Note, below).

The organisers of an ELT conference or event with a finalised line-up which meets the criteria described above should contact the EVE Calendar for inclusion on the calendar. We will check the line-up, add the event, and hyperlink it to the organisation’s conference web page.

The organisers will then be invited to display a bespoke platinum EVE, which will be sent to them.

If you have organised an event and you believe it meets the criteria, do contact us via our Contact form and send us your finalised, published line-up.

As we are a voluntary initiative, there is no cost.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For reasons of data privacy and of ethics, an EVE can only be awarded where speaker identity can be seen from basic details shared with the event organiser, such as preferred pronouns or current profession, from a headshot for a flyer, or from information in the public domain such as Social Media presence. EVE will be required to trust the event organisers’ knowledge of speakers and audience as we cannot handle personal data nor will we contact the speaker(s).  Should any information provided to EVE by the event organiser be discovered to be incorrect, please notify us immediately.

Disclaimer: Should any last-minute changes be made to a programme owing to unforeseen circumstances and affecting representation in the line-up, the EVE should be removed, and replaced with the correct EVE (or no EVE). Where this is not possible for lack of time, EVE will be not responsible.
